Carsharing-Union Mark Schwaben starts again

In the past two years, the Carsharing-Union Markt Schwaben e.V. (CMS) had shut down most of its vehicles for a few months due to the pandemic and then reduced the fleet to 7 vehicles. The reduction in corona restrictions means there are more opportunities again and the need for cars is increasing. Therefore, the fleet is now to be increased back to the old level before Corona. "Another electric vehicle, a Renault Zoe, has already been ordered as well as a Renault Trafic 9 seater," announces Anja Soujon (CMS).

The vehicles can be found at four fixed locations in Markt Schwaben: at the town hall, on Rotkreuzstraße, at Postanger, at the train station, as well as at an external location in Neufinsing.

Why car sharing?

"One of the nice aspects of car sharing is that the user can take exactly the vehicle he needs for his trip.", says chairman Jens Langhein. The fleet provides vehicles for every purpose, a short trip for two, a week's shopping for the extended family, or a weekend trip with the volleyball team. Small and large transports with or without a trailer can also be done with the right car. There is something for everybody.

The association has been supporting e-mobility since the end of 2018. The municipality put a charging station into operation at the town hall, which made it easy to buy an e-car.

After initial reservations, utilization of the all-electric ZOE has now reached the norm. From next spring, members will have two electric vehicles at their disposal.

All-inclusive

Car sharing offers a considerable cost advantage: if you drive less than 10,000 kilometers a year and do not need your car every day to get to work, you can get away cheaper with the shared vehicle. There is a price per kilometer driven (currently a car €0.43), a time fee per hour (€0.60 during the day / €0.20 at night), and a monthly membership fee of €6. "Other costs will not be charged," explains Kyra Merkle from CMS.

Car sharing is not just something for the convinced but also works in everyday life. Users usually quickly get used to preparing for a trip: book online (often possible at very short notice), walk or cycle to the location, briefly inspect the vehicle, enter the start in the logbook - off you go!
Completing the trip is just as easy: check whether the tank is more than 1/3 full, park the car, put the key in the safe - done!

If there is less than 1/3 of fuel in the tank, simply fill up, pay with the fuel card and only then park the car.
By the way, tire changes, maintenance, etc. are arranged by the volunteer car attendants.

Simple, easy, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly.
